My dad went to a little country school called Elem Grove. Sound familiar? Believe it was in Tama County. Would love to hear back from you. If you have heard of it, please email me at francischrista@yahoo.com. Thank you. I have a picture of his class or at least some of his friends to share if you like.

Hi Chrissy,

Haven't heard of that one. Those that I have here labeled Tama County are the only ones I know of. I would love to have more information about extant schools in Tama County.

Just an update on the Poweshiek County Madison #1 if anyone is interested. It looks like it has been abandoned now and it is sitting in the right of way for the new lanes being added to Hwy 30 through the hills. They have started cutting the trees back to the east and west of where it sits and I'm assuming at some point it will probably be demolished (or moved again).

So they are finally widening US30 through that area!?!?! It's been a while since I've driven in that neck of the woods. Perhaps that's why the school was abandoned -- likely purchased or taken over by eminent domain.

AM says: I wish I knew how to buy it. I would like to save it and move it to Apple Haus!

This school is no longer on the site. It has been either moved or demolished.
