I had planned to join Chuck & Crista on their weekend century ride today, but when I woke up, it was raining. I set up the trainer in front of the TV and started pedaling. With the help of Hot Tub Time Machine and the 2010 Hawaii Ironman, I was able to make it through the first two hours. I took a break to have a quick breakfast and got back on the bike for another hour. I was really struggling so I put on Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon and that helped me get through another hour. Afterwards, I did some core work and some yoga. I recently purchased The Triahtlete's Training Bible and I leafed through that to try to plan my workouts for the season. It's going to take time to get that worked out. I also registered for a couple more events. Here's my schedule for 2011:
Feb. 19 - 20: Bike Sebring (http://bikesebring.org/)
Starts out with 3 laps on the famed Sebring race course, then one time around a 90 mile loop, followed by multiple laps of an 11 mile loop. At 6:30 pm we switch to the race track and crank out as many laps as we can before 6:30 am rolls around. Don't let the flat course fool you, the race is difficult because there is no coasting. I'll be taking the family along and dropping them off at DisneyWorld before the race.
May 22: Jersey Shore Time Trial 30 K (http://www.jsmultisport.com/)
It's a flat time trial from Seaside Heights south to Island Beach State Park and back. I'm not sure if I'm going to do this one, but I'd like to.
June 18-19 National 24 Hour Challenge (http://www.n24hc.org/)
This is in Middleville, MI, I did it several years ago and the scenery was nice. There are many participants, so it feels really fun.
July 11 - 30 Ridge of the Rockies Tour. www.pactour.com
1943 miles from Kalispell, MT to Albuquerque, NM
Sept. 11: Great Atlantic Ocean Triathlon (http://www.jsmultisport.com/)
Sprint distance tri in seaside heights, NJ.
Oct. 2: Ironman 70.3 Poconos Tri (http://www.ironmanpoconomountains.com/)
Swim in the Delaware river, bike in the scenic (and hilly) Poconos, run around Stroudsburg
The "A" race here is the 70.3 Ironman. The 24 Hour events would be "B" Priority and the Sprint distance tri's are my "C" races.
