My Mom was riding my sister's bike along the Boardwalk in Seaside Heights, NJ this weekend when she ran into Three Brothers Pizza. She rode a bike into a building. How can you not see a building? And worse, the buildings run parallel to the boardwalk. So, somehow the geometry of it all escapes me. She broke her wrist and now has a hard cast on it. Now, this woman is constantly harrassing me about my riding long distances and she is constantly worried about my safety, but was she wearing a helmet? NOWhats up with that? Her excuse? "I don't own a helmet" Mom, you are old enough to go out and buy a helmet and oh yeah, there's a bike shop 2 blocks from your house. When I chastised her for not wearing a helmet she said, "I landed on my hands, a helmet wouldn't have helped my wrist." And people wonder why I'm a smartass.
