I'm a pre dialysis/transplant cyclist. I'm still churning out miles waiting for the inevitable, with a little help from my friend Procrit. How long were you off the bike after you got your kidney?

I took a week off the bike which rapidly turned into 2 and a half weeks. That's about as long as I can take off the bike these days before my blood pressure lets me know who is the boss of me. I started to get the headache and proving once again that I'm really stupid, I convinced myself there had to be some other cause. Nope. Blood Pressure. 179 over 114. Which is in the "Take me to the emergency room" range. I jumped on the bike for an hour. That brought my pressure down to 159 over 94 and that night I upped my anti-hypertension medication. The next night, I couldn't really sleep that well, so I set up my bike on the trainer and rode from 1am to 1:30am. I'll probably end up doing the same again tonight. So Please, never ask me, "Are you still riding?" because I am chained to my bike whether I like it or not.
