They simply will not do what has to be done. Unions have evolved an attitude that they're entitled so they'll hang on until the whole thing collapses.

Believe me they don't have a clue I live here. They just hired 2500 more people. There will be a total breakdown and then maybe they might notice something is wrong. You can't even drive down a road without hitting gigantic potholes the size of the grand canyon but we are getting the biggest humane society building in the state. I truly live in bizzaro world here. They are letting out all the sexual wackos to save money, then we get to watch our young girls get raped and murdered right in front of our eyes and the government doesn't flinch!? People are waking up big time.

Why do they have to transfer public operations like jails to the private sector? Why not simply write a law that says that any employee that is paid with primarily public funds and is answerable to a public entity is not allowed to be a member of a union?

Reduce government union pay and benefits to private industry averages and "spread the wealth" back to the taxpayers

Law enforcement is a recession proof career precisely because of the three strikes law-the crippled economy and differential sentencing for street drugs vs the yuppie versions of the same illegal substances. Someone has to manage the hoards of people we have incarcerated for our own protection then some howl that these jobs come with healthy long term benefits as they should because all the statistics suggest a shortened life from the stresses of the job, dealing with society's rejects and shift work round the clock for year upon year. Funny how people complain about the prison staff but not police, chp, and firefighters-how do we explain this? Surely not more naked self interest?!
