This is one of my favorites. It's a few excerpts from my favorite lecture covering a broad overview of what Scientology really is.

That with which you become familiar you can know. ... all auditing does is release the person's ability to inspect, and when he can inspect without fear, he can know the truth of things. ... Life has certain basic fundamentals. Any truth about life, any of these fundamentals surrender anything they have in the way of answers if a person totally inspects something. ... In the final analysis all you can get anybody to do is inspect himself, his environment, life, and find out what's true for him."

That was the thing that really got me interested in Scientology: the fact that the people I met never tried to shove anything down my throat. They were very interested in making sure I understood what I was studying, but once I understood it, then it was up to me to decide if it was true or not and that involved me trying out the ideas and then observing the results.
I really liked that.

In 1990 the Church of Scientology published a book that contained a collection of quotes from L. Ron Hubbard. The quotes were chosen over a forty year period because they were the favorites of Scientologists.
I have that book and for the next few days I'll be quoting from the book. My goal is two fold:
1. To show you some of the things L. Ron Hubbard actually said. As opposed to things someone says he said. 2. To show you a little more of what Scientologists are really like. After all, these are their favorite quotes, so that will tell you something of how they think.
