Now that Moishe's is gone, I wonder if the East Village will ever get a bakery that sells other things besides sweets - ya know, like BREAD - again?

Yay!! There's nowhere to get a good, fresh blueberry muffin in the nabe right now. (And sorry, but the only bread Moishe did well was rye. Their challah was an abomination. One may not like to patronize Whole Foods, but they DO have a great, wide selection of impeccably fresh breads.)

Say what you want, but I'm pretty ho-hum about any bakery—or eatery—that isn't vegan. Almost anybody can eat vegan food, whereas a lot of people can't eat dairy and eggs. Also, vegan bakeries are more likely than omnivore bakeries to take into consideration things like food allergies.

Are there any vegan pastry stores in the area? LifeThyme at 408 6th Ave. recently closed its pastry operation.

Bread! Sold by a bakery! What a concept. I am so sick of all these foo-foo millennial cakey places that I actually bought a breadmaking machine because I can’t manage to schlep to the Upper East Side to buy actual fresh-baked loaves...
