Glad to see the fireworks are staying in East River Park where they belong. The crowds should help slow down the crazy cyclists. There was a crazy guy on a bike with those giant tires blasting rap music and terrorizing pedestrians on the promenade yesterday. I have seen him do it before, zig-zagging around people and kids at top speed. Too bad the cops who are sitting there joying the views don’t collar him for reckless riding.

Weird I was at BJ’s the other day and saw fireworks for sale. The was the BJ’s in Jersey city.

Ground based, non-exploding fireworks have been legal in NJ since a few days before last year's 4th of July but stores didn't have time to stock up. Basically it's a lot of different packaging and big names for sparklers and cinder burning colorful noise makers.

@ScubaDiva. I heard on the news that Macys plans to up the volume this year by adding some fireworks with Lou’s whistling effects in addition to the loud blockbuster-style boomers, so with their sensitive ears, dogs and cats are sure to be even more terrified than ever.
