Thanks for getting the word out. Michael Natale came up with the concept and artwork. He runs the Tompkins Trees website.

The bench idea is fine, but any tree put there is going to have an even harder time than the bendy tree in surviving. The bendy tree had the benefit of being planted there at the same time (or thereabouts) as the larger elm, so its roots were able to grow. Any new tree is going to have a difficult time putting in roots, and will still be covered by the canopy of the larger tree beside it. It won't stand much of a chance of surviving.

Hi shmnyc, please read the petition. It says nothing about planting a tree.

Write a letter to Amanda Burden-Christ, in the era of 'sitting is the new smoking' she'll put a seating area anywhere.

Some people have got to learn to let things go, death comes to everything alive, please take time to appreciate the beautiful tree that remains in that spot.

Can anyone please explain the significance of this tree? I don't get why it's such a big deal that a sick tree was cut down.

The tree shown looks like it is in a planter, not the ground, so it won't be competing with the larger tree.

We always need more seating for people to loaf and eye-stalk you as you walk through the park. Where do I sign?

Bucket tree or no bucket tree, if I'm going to sign a memorial petition, it's going be the Amanda Bynes Tribute In Lights Lazer Spectacular on the roof of the Death Star.

Um, fuck this. Just plant a tree and put a plaque. No need for the potted tree and Martha Stewart setup.

ooh....ooh....na-na-notor-i-us!.....

picture the Amanda Climax Slide as a closer.....a lazer-lit 8-story spiral-slide.....Amanda naked, but wrapped in rope neon (with appropriately-placed bullet lazers).....mobile-lights powered by the friction on her fun pillows.....and she slides into a 2000 gallon frozen-yogurt filled hot tub (at the base of a bendy-tree replica mebbe....'ya know, workin' that deal in too).....at which point the frats/feelies/freeloaders lose their minds, eating everything in sight including microchip molly.

Man......I think this would sell.
