I'm amazed there hasn't been a profile here on Santo before. Super nice guy and helpful.

Yes!! this guy is super awesome and his shop is the best. I've only been there a few times but I remember he used to have a really sweet yellow lab dog that totally adored him. good luck to him!:)

"...things were a certain way before I got here. I was the new guy so I can’t begrudge other new guys."

How about that.

"I’m not big on the way things were and that kind of stuff, because things were a certain way before I got here. I was the new guy so I can’t begrudge other new guys."

This is so refreshing to read. Sounds like a great guy, will make an effort to patronize his store more often!

Love him and the shop.

I used to live in that building and we'd work together to ensure our newspapers didn't get stolen every morning.

Santo hit a lot of nails on the head but I especially liked this bit of insight: "There was a lot of energy going on and it wasn’t all focused on making money because you didn’t have to make a lot to live here."

Good people, he used to play in The Healing Band with Ekeyani. I work 2 doors down.

Thanks for running a great business. I've been a few times in the past for some odd-copies and was treated well and priced fair.

Santo and Margaret, and their dog Curtis, are the best, best, best!! We love them madly!! We couldn't do our work without them! They enrich the spirit of the whole neighborhood. They are friends who feel with us through good times and bad!!

Just the best. I wish I had heard of them earlier than I did. Got a bunch of poetry mss. copied there and always buy reporters' notebooks. very easy to email docs without filling out a bunch of dumb forms. one time i was in there and was offered chocolate cupcakes from a local who apparently brought them everyday(?) to the shop. there's more than just copying - when you do have that odd time to dupe any dvd/vhs type thing or rubber stamps and so forth you have to support this place! he remembers everything. -stef

Santo is the best! We were neighbors when I lived on 9th Street. Love his store, and loved seeing him and Curtis around (and before that, Satchmo). Definitely one of the things I miss most about the EV.

Santo and Margaret have seen me through the Xeroxing of every single book I ever published, all sixteen of them, and some that have yet to see the light of Amazon. Also all kinds of other stuff. They are the salt of the earth, the cat's pajamas and the bee's knees. And Curtis (and his sweet predecessor Satch) is a dog for the ages! Love you guys: so glad you're around.
