I GUESS one could argue that the </And> or </Or> tags could be perceived this way (as a field with a bad name), but you'd think they'd have come up with a better, more specific exception.

One or more field types are not installed properly. Go to the list settings page to delete these fields. If you get this helpful error message, it should be obvious that this might mean that you have only one term inside an <And> or <Or> CAML query.. Yeah, right. It may in fact also mean that you are trying to reference a field using an incorrect name.
