Could be, but even with the impact from Katrina there is significant lag (month or two) between production capacity and price at the pump. I'm sure Bushie will dip into the strategic reserve again for his sort of home state.

What - do you live on the opposite side of the globe or something? ;-)

Gas prices spiked by 85 cents and more in the mid-atlantic region within just a few days after Katrina hit, due to immediate shortages and speculation of a longer-lasting supply shock. Prices are still not back down to the "good old days" of around $2.65 per gallon for regular - you have to go out of your way to find prices much below $3.00.

But the way it's looking tonight, only 4 of the refineries listed above might be directly impacted, though of course there are a slew of refineries in South-West Louisiana that didn't make it on my list.

I'll settle for us getting back up around $3.50.
