Personally, I think church needs to tone down the playgroup atmosphere that is so prevalent in "Youth Ministry".
It makes no allowance for the fact that young people crave discussion and knowledge. You can have pizza parties and minigolf anywhere.
Jesus had a revolutionary, world-changing message which resonates with a lot of teenagers. I think it'd be great if we played that up more and didn't worry so much about the glam.

i would say that this is pretty dead on. being “contemporary” is so uncontemporary, and following closely behind is the irrelevence of being “relevant”.
