Don't forget to help out the victims of Hurricane Katrina. They can use everything. I don't know if they are taking donations in Nashville, but they are here (Dallas, Texas). Our church is very involved too: we sent a team of chainsaw people to clear fallen trees from houses and roadways, and had a special offering this past Sunday morning. The neat thing about being in a Southern Baptist church is that we are continually supporting Disaster Relief through the North American Mission board. They've been asked to provide 300,000 meals a day for the next 90 days to Katrina survivors.
It will be a long, hard road, and we're all looking for ways that we can reach out to our brothers and sisters in love.

Patrick and I have made good use of the Labor Day weekend by cleaning out closets and getting ready for our neighborhood yard sale on the 17th. I had no idea we had so much stuff! We had to go buy more price stickers! Allison sent some stuff back from Atlanta with us for it, and my parents have also contributed. So, we are going to have a substantial amount for our sale. CDs, DVDs, kitchen things, clothes... you name it! I think we should go through stuff at least every five years so we don't get to year 30 of our marriage and say, "How'd we get all this stuff??"
Meanwhile, back in Texas, Dad is in the rehab hospital. He is having some problems with balance since his right side is weaker. He got out of bed on his own, but the nurse fussed at him. She says she gets tired of picking people up off the floor! Overall, he is doing well and is looking forward to going home. His quick recovery from this stroke is undoubtedly an answer to many prayers. We appreciate all the folks who have been praying for him and for us.
We got word this morning that Patrick's cousin, Jay Patrick, died Saturday in Jackson, MS. The cause of death is not yet known, but Jay had suffered from health problems, including depression. He and his mother, Pat (yes, she's Pat Patrick), had been without electricity since Katrina hit a week ago. They had been going back and forth between their home and a neighbor's house who had electricity. Please pray for Aunt Pat, cousin Dan, and the rest of the family as they deal with this situation.
