I've gotten a behind the scenes tour of the Kansas Speedway. Very impressive. I'm not a race fan, but I do have a bit of appreciation.

I was looking at our Topeka Tourist Book and found this is going on in August: http://www.hpt.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1316&Itemid=113

I'm planning on going to at least one day - it should be interesting.

The biggest thing of the year where I live? LOLOLOL, I guess the homecoming football game. I live in the middle of nowhere.

Mrs. D the town I graduated from has an annual community homecoming and we have to play Eureka - it doesn't matter if the Homecoming game is a home game or not!

Earlier in the week a Queen and Princess (surrounding communities in the county)are crowned - and there is not Homecoming King. The Queen candidates must perform a talent too.

Biggest thing in our town is Toad Suck Daze. Just happened the beginning of this month. We now have an entire year to wait for something else to happen. We live in the south, nothing cool happening here. :)

I was in Charlotte two weeks ago. Fantasticly charming city :)

We just had the biggest weekend of our year here. It was Crawdad Days. Two days of great food, carnival fun, classic car shows, burnout competitions and all of it topped off with The Kentucky Headhunters and Black Stone Cherry in concert!

I didn't go. ;-)

The AbsolutGator already listed the big event from back home.. :):)
Here, it's a German festival, held outside, tons of beer, in freaking August!! (Guess it cuts down on the port-o-potty usage)

We constantly have little "fairs" and "festivals" around here. We don't really attend any of them...

In Podunk, it's Coon Creek Country Days (no, I'm not kidding), but out here in the country, there is a small town festival just about every weekend from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

And one of these years I'm going to get myself out your way for the Coca-Cola 600 ...

That sounds like SO MUCH FUN and bigger than anything we have here in Minnesota. I would say that our biggest event is the Minnesota State Fair. It is pretty big and there are some pretty great concerts during the two weeks it is held. We've already got our ticket to see Carrie Underwood this year.
