Mine: 1. Eric Johnson (hands down the best) 2. Jimi Hendrix (And the wind cried Jimi...) 3. Pete Townshend (Who?... yeah The Who) 4. Mark Knopfler (please try to pay attention) 5. Richie Sambora (my guilty pleasure)
My other favorites are: - Dimebag Darrell of Pantera - Zakk Wylde of Ozzy Osbourne, Black Label Society. - Joe Satriani. - The Edge of U2. - Pete Townshend of The Who. - Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones.
Freakin Georgie Boy ROCKS hard as ANYONE... but just because you rock doesn't mean that you are a fantastic guitar player... I love John Fogarty too but they are not a multi chord players... LOL!
- Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit (rythm guitar anyway) - Marc Bolan of T. Rex - Kurt Cobain of Nirvana and the Dead 27 Club. - Bille Joe Armstrong of Green Day - The guitarists for Good Charlotte, Fall Out Boy, Blink 182, Sum 41, New Found Glory, and the entire genre of Emo rockers. More like Elmo rock.
Journey rocks! Are we limited to men or are we equal opportunity? Pat Benetar has got some pipes. I also love Def Leopard, AC/DC, Gun-n-Roses, Aerosmith and Stryper.
Believe it or not I am not going to go with Joe Perry (Aerosmith) as my answer this time around. Although I think Joe is fantastic he doesn't hold a candle to Eddie Van Halen.
This is going to make me sound old, but when I saw Van Halen the thing I remember most about them was they were very very loud and this was like 26 years ago. I'm not saying they aren't goo, not at all. They rock.
Jimmy Page is a family hero! But all these guys are so good at what they do, there can't be a "best", it's all about how they make you feel. Like Eric Clapton, my God the guy is a.........I don't have the word!
Hopefully I'm not repeating any, but here are some I didn't see yet: Angus Young Ted Nugent Slash Kirk Hammett Joe Walsh Vernon Reid Dave Mustain Peter Frampton Prince Alex Lifeson
BTW, I saw VH in concert a few months ago and Eddie was f'n amazing. You could of heard a pin drop during his 12 minute solo. Impressive!
[Image]Last week we discussed our favorite rock drummers. So today lets move to our favorite rock guitarists. This will be be fun as there are so many great guitar players over several genres. So lets debate. Here are my favorites: [Image]
1. David Gilmour - Pink Floyd (Best guitar solos ever). 2. Jimi Hendrix - (The God of riffs!) 3. Jimmy Page - Led Zeppelin (His Holiness rocks). 4. Eric Clapton - (Slowhand can do it all). 5. Eddie Van Halen - (He changed hard rock forever).

Can we do singers next week? I'm really bad at musicians names.
May 14, 2008 at 1:23 PM
I don't know the first thing about this. I listen to the music, know names of bands, but not people!
Please, don't judge.
May 14, 2008 at 1:31 PM
LOL @ Apple
We don't judge Bina baby... We are all about fun. What bands do you like or think they have the best guitar music in them?
May 14, 2008 at 1:33 PM
AAAAP, I'll eventually do singers, bassists, pianists and oboeists.
May 14, 2008 at 1:48 PM
Georgie T would make the singer list... "Yackity-Yackity-Yackity-Yack all the time!"
I will go ahead and tell you that Apple loves Steve Perry.

Pretty much any guitarist that can make his fingers do lots of chords really fast get me excited about what else he could do with those fingers. ;p
