I think IM is different for different people. I was talking to a friend about the "realness" of IM conversations and it became apparent that we had quite different views of it. Some people are easier to talk to on IMs than real life, and some people are harder to talk to. I have friends who I never talk to on IMs, and friends who I never talk to except for IMs. So what does this all mean? I don't know, but IM and real life seems to be mutually orthogonal.

I wonder what makes a close friend. Does close friendship have to be reciprocal? I made it my working assumption for a while and got a bit depressed...

Oops, this is turning into a rant. I really should go rant in my own blog. Sorry!

hey ~ no worries! comment as Much as you like, i LOVE COMMENTS! :P

yes it is a very interesting concept isnt it, IMs.. hmm 2 types of friends huh,.. i guess in some ways i like IMs cos you can read them again later, and think carefully/properly before you write haha.. i also love keeping histories..
they are also good for looking for "evidence" that you said ___ etc

hmm i was wondering about that thing too, it is kinda depressing i suppose when one does not return the same "amount" as you but that's life, as long as I think that person is a good friend that's all that matters? and eventually they will think the same maybe?

I agree that histories are useful! Sometimes I wish I could keep a log of everything I say on the phone... maybe I should tape-record every call, but there's some law against that I think.

Maybe I just have a bad memory.

Hmmm... I wonder what makes people think you're a good friend to them?

Part of friendship is giving and not expecting anything in return. And when something is given in return, well, that is nice.
