Really liked this comment of his:

"It is strange how a degree of randomness exposes a firm brush where too much thought and planning would do the same to an uncertain one."

And, in the second commentary, I liked these comments:

"....Frank Gardner’s light technique.....I couldn’t quite get my head around it."

"...the effect is so convincing that when viewing a painting that depicts morning time, when the sun hasn’t scorched everything yet, one can almost experience the freshness of the air and breathe more freely. The colors are damper and darker; the heat hasn’t raised all the dust into the air."

"...there are subtle elaborations, sophisticated color overlaps and gradations that reveal a tendency towards maximal precision."

"I find his use of light...emotionally exhilarating."

"Finally, his work displays such a clear compositional vision and unity of design that if asked to describe it in just a few words, I would say: 'He always gets his point across.'"

...something got me to look back at those sentences I quoted yesterday...
the first one ("It is strange...") doesn't really say what he means, and doesn't make much sense out of the context of its paragraph - i liked that whole paragraph.

i guess i read it this way:
...a degree of randomness exposes a firm brush (mastery of technique and composition) where too much thought and planning ironically expose the actual randomness and uncertain brush of a nonmaster.

Hi anonymous. I liked that comment about the randomness of the firm brush vs an uncertain one too.

Thanks for taking the time to post all of those bits from the reviews. I appreciate your thoughts.

Forgot to mention that I'm in love with the middle painting you have on the Mexican landscapes.

Breathtaking..... I wouldn't mind waking up to that every morning.
