I very much agree with Dan but also love the way that you have selected views where the contrast of sunlight and shadow make beautiful already interesting scenes.
Absolutely stunning Frank, harmonious and atmospheric! I am in Boston and I notice you did these in Cape Cod. I would have loved to have had the time to visit there just to experience the light
these are both fabulous. I think you've outdone yourself with the atmospheric interpretation and divine color. The temperature and value shifts pulsate in the whites on Dyer Street. Lively brushwork and perspective, as well. They're both top notch. The colors in Dyer Street bring to mind some of the Cape Ann painters. Slam Bangin'!!!!!
Mick, yup. The light and shadow determined my designs. Thanks
Thanks Perry and Barb.
I can only hope Katherine : )
Thanks Liz. Hi Rahina, thanks. The light is good out there on the tip of Cape Cod. The town itself is pretty fun and there is lots of good food. Next time try and get out there.
Hi Mary, thanks. Glad you could pick up on some of those subtle temp shifts in Dyer St. Easier to see in person, because they are real subtle.
Thanks John! I'll get up that way as soon as I have a chance. Maybe I can make it in late fall.
Hi Deborah, P-Town is a great place. Thanks. I spent a lot of summer time out there as a kid and it's nice to be painting out there now on a fairly regular basis.
I've been here many times. I'm represented by the Blue Heron in Wellfleet. I know the Addison Gallery. These painting capture the light on the Cape. Good luck with them!
BOTH of these are beautiful, Frank - they really capture Ptown, but different and more interesting than the 'usual' Lobster Pot/ Ptown tower paintings! These say you took your time and really looked at the town. Beautifully rendered.
dyer st looking down toward the water is one of my fave streets too! did one for rowley. recognized the building in your right background area. great minds think alike eh LOL these paintings of ptown are great! you really captured the ptown vibe.

I love that painting Touch Of Summer. I want to walk down the path, open that peaceful blue door, and escape into serenity. My life has been so turbulent and looking at it relaxes me so! I keep coming back to it over and over! Husband has frontal lobe dementia, permanently disabled, my hours were cut, we are scraping the barrel...that painting helps me to feel free from all the weight and worry.
Hi Frank..I haven't been keeping up with blogging lately, so a wonderful surprise to see these two lovely paintings! I love the desing in both..very powerful. As always your work is beautiful!
Sure seems to my eye some of the complementary palettes of Edgar Payne are detectable in your works...and a treat!

Just sent these two new paintings of Provincetown off to the Addison Art Gallery in Orleans, MA.
I'm normally drawn to the grittier weathered look of the fishing boats when I'm in Provincetown. In my last few paintings of the town I wanted to explore the quainter street scenes a bit more.

HI Frank!.... Good to see your work back on post!
These Cape Cod pieces combine a beautiful play of lighting effects and contrasting shadowed areas in both paintings!
Your tonal control and values are... impeccably... "Gardneresque" as I have previously mentioned!
Good luck with your show... and workshops!
Gooa Painting... Sales and New Horizons!
Warmest regards,
