Really interesting to see. I can see that you have simplified and made the scene lovely..... much prettier than the photo. Someday someone is going to be able to knock that into my head. :)
Hope you're having a great time with all the guys... painting away the hours!

That field makes me homesick. It is informative to see the painting next to the photo. Thanks.

Really like seeing how you see. I must keep reminding myself of that overused expression of " Keep it Simple , ------!
( it doesn't help to berate ones'self).
You seem to be able to look at a scene that wouldn't appear to be beckoning, and find ways to make it hum.
And I'd guess by the time you get back from this trip, you'll be making arias!
When I was young I used to be impressed by photo-realistic painting, and though I still appreciate the skill that goes into that style, as I get older I love so much more to see the artist's interpretation of a scene. So much more emotion, I think.
Thanks Solveg. Yes, we had a great time! Thanks Julie. Thanks Dean. Hi Barb, thanks. Hi Marian, Thanks and yes, fun. Hi onpainting, thanks. Hi Bonnie, thanks. What are arias? Thanks Theresa. Hi Jennifer, thanks.

A few posts back there was a photo of this red church across a field. In the comments, Jennifer Thermes mentioned that she liked to compare my paintings to the photos, so here is a plein air painting that I did the day I took the picture, and the photo of the scene again.
""January Morning", Plein air and photo"

Thanks for this post, Frank. It is interesting to see what you kept...eliminated...moved...in order to get the nice composition.

I like your take on this, how you cropped it. So nice as always. If you are checking in I hope you are having a great time.
