Lawrence, I am purposely keeping these to sizes smaller than anything I paint for galleries. Just so there is no confusion that these are minis for a special occasion only.
I use an assortment of brushes, 6 or 8 flat bristles down to 2s, and a few soft white nylon brushes too, flats and a couple of little rounds that are very flexible in the brushstrokes I can get out of them.

Two for tonight. I've gotten quite a few emails from people saying that by the time they look at my blog the pieces are sold. I try and post around the same general time each night as I can. I really can't show preference or pre sell these. There is no fun in that, and it's not fair to everyone else. Still only in the second week.
The top one is another Charro. So to make it a little different for myself today I used a limited palette of colors. Just red, yellow ochre, ivory black and white in this one. I'm happy with how it came out. There is a little glare in the photo, but you can see the real subtle color notes in this one better, so it's the one I went with.
Canelo again, from the other side. I like the looseness in this one. I painted this guy with my friend Scott Powers last summer. He just kept moving around and around that tree looking to eat the scraps of cornstalks. Much easier to paint from a photo.

Nice! What size brushes are you using. Why 5x7 and not 6x8's?
