I traveled around Vietnam with my friend during my vacation. Native cuisine such as pho and goi cuon was delicious. Vietnam beer was particularly good.
Of course I did other activities than eating. I went to the business district in Ho Chi Minh City and found that it was big city than I expected. In the morning, quite a lot of motorcycles were running through the skyscrapers. Exhaust fumes were so thick you hardly saw around. It reminds me of China of a decade ago and I can expect future economic growth of this city.
Vietnam has been continuing to grow economically since it introduced Doi Moi open policy in 1986. Economic growth in this country currently took second place in Asia and it is regarded as one of the post BRICs. But you cannot invest in Vietnam while you are in Japan. You have to go to Vietnam yourself and open an account with a securities company.
There are currently two stock markets in Vietnam. One is Ho chi Minh stock market opened in 2000 and other is Hanoi stock market opened in 2005. As of August 2006, sixty companies are listed on those markets. The markets on which the companies are listed are divided by the size of the companies. (本多)
