今、アルクから出た『 新TOEIC(R)テスト 直前の技術 』を
読んでいます。

これオススメですよ。私はリーディングパートが弱いのですが、
これで次回はスコアがアップしそうです。

問題文：
「米国に次ぐジャンクフード王国？の英国では、成人の３人に１人が
肥満と認定され、」

以下、メルマガ投稿者の作品です。

In the UK, where the second biggest junk food kingdom to the US, a third of adult are officially acknowledged as obesity　（本多）

In the U.K., the second largest junk-food consumer next to the U.S., adulthood obesity is posing a serious problem with one out of three adults being categorized as obese.　（YM）

テキストの解説には「In Britain, a junk food kingdom(?) second only to the United Statesで結構です」とあります。

また、「「成人の３人に１人が肥満と認定され」は、one out of three people is recognized (considered, diagnosed, regarded, certified) as obesity が多かったが、正しくはresognaized as obeseと形容詞になります。「３人に１人」はone out of every three adultsとeveryを入れたほうが自然です」とあります。


３人ともeveryをつけた方が自然のようです。

「最近日本で盛んな"食育"も、この国では馬耳東風」

テキストの解説には「食育はnutritional education, food educationがほとんどだったが、"dietary education," a concept based on the idea that healty eating is important for the growth of children as well as adults' healthのようにこの言葉になじみのない英語圏の人に説明する
のも良いです」とあります。

「馬耳東風は、It goes in one ear and out the other. や、such a concept appears to be failing on deaf ears in this junk food empire.はやや使い古された感はあるが良い。pay far less attention to wjhat they eat than in Japanや、No one in the country cares about food educationや、People in Britain can't care less what they eat良い」とあります。

Nさんは古いけどOK、私とYMさんはOKという所でしょうか。

テキストの解説には「ここでは「現状だ」を忠実に訳さなくても、無視したほうがすっきりする」とあります。
