今回も6月号のテキストに載っている3月号の解説の復習
もしてみます。


まずは、Writers' Workshop 5月号からいってみましょう。

Italy's largest shopping mall, Parco Leonardo, has
opened near Fiumicino airport. The shopping center
covers two floors, including over 200 shops, and a
cinema with 24 screens. This is no wonder, since
the biggest draw of the mall is that it takes four
hours to just stop by all shops.

Recently, this kind of shopping centers have been
springing up on the outskirts of Rome. But in this
case, the difference is that about 3,000 houses,
offices, drugstores and a four-star hotel were newly
made. It has been developed as an emerging area
where you can live a comfortable life. People agree
that it has anything you might need so you don't
have to walk around town and also it's safe. But
the pros and cons are batted back and forth in the
country.

In any case, it has been a smash as young people or
family sightseeing spot on weekends. Going only one
station farther from the airport allows you to buy
Italian brand goods easily. So you can say that this
is a convenient spot for foreigners who use the
airport as well. （本多）

今回は残念ながらメルマガ投稿者からの佳作者は「なし」でした。


3月号分は自分の英文のあまりのできの悪さに驚きました。
やっつけ仕事だったのでしょうか。

この号は日本語の表現が柔らかすぎるので、そのまま英語にしようとしては
ダメで、本当に意訳しないとこなれた英語にはなりませんね。

「呼び出し」制度の英訳のために、佐藤先生もインターネットを使って
調べていると書かれてありました。

P108に、「（電話が）コードで繋がれた」をoutletで表現していますが、
黒電話はコンセントにはつながなかったと思うのですが、いかがでしょうか。
