実は私も観覧してました。

収録には3時間弱はかかったように思います。

■意味を考えてみよう。答えは以下で

●as such　「それ自体」
──────────────────────────────
You use as such after a noun to indicate that you are
considering that thing on its own, separately from other
things or factors.

E-DICより。
I am not against drinking as such, but against drinking and driving.
私は酒を飲むこと自体には反対ではないが，飲酒運転には反対です。

●common colds　「風邪」
──────────────────────────────
The common cold is a mild illness. If you have it,
your nose is blocked or runny and you have a sore throat
or a cough.

この解説には風邪の諸症状の表現がまとまっています。

My nose is blocked.
My nose is runny.
I have a sore throat.
I have a cough.

●contingent of pickpockets　「すり団、集団すり」
──────────────────────────────
A contingent of police, soldiers, or military vehicles
is a group of them.

このcontingent＝団、という使い方、初耳です。

contingentはcontingencyの派生語として、
contingency plan コンティンジェンシー・プラン、非常事態計画
(英辞朗より)　

という意味から、「非常の」くらいの意味かと思っていました。

コウビルドでは第3の意味として次が載ってます。
If something is contingent on something else, the first
thing depends on the second in order to happen or exist.

これは「…しだいの」 という意味ですね。

この意味では、
contingent fee 成功報酬
こんな表現がありました。

If you describe someone as clueless, you are showing your
disapproval of the fact that they do not know anything

食品の裏側?みんな大好きな食品添加物

これは恐ろしい本です。

食品添加物についての警告ですが、これからはスーパーや
コンビニで加工品を買うときは裏の成分表をしっかりチェック
したいと思います。

コーヒーに入れるコーヒーフレッシュの成分を初めて知りました。
今後コーヒーフレッシュを使うことはないでしょう。

ああ　おそろしい。
