ビジ英テキストの英作文のコーナー「ビジネス英会話セミナー
Writers' Workshop」ですが、今月は早々と仕上げ、ＮＨＫ出版
に送りました。皆さんもぜひ挑戦してみてください。


今回のビニェットはＰＲ会社の仕事のやり方が色々と書かれて
ありました。今日のビニェットにも小さなアカウントの仕事は
demandingだとありましたが、ＰＲ会社にお勤めの杉田先生なら
ではの内容といえましょう。

虎穴に入らずんば虎児を得ず
英語は「思い切ってやってみなければ、何も得ることはで
きない」の意で、よく耳にする諺。一般の和英辞書にある
Nothing venture, nothing have [gain].はイギリスの言い
方である。

○できない、できないとばかり言ってないで、試してみたら
どうだい。虎穴に入らずんば虎児を得ずさ。
Instead of just telling yourself over and over you
can't do it, why not give it a try? Nothing ventured,
nothing gained, you know.

《諺》「樫（かし）の大木も小さなどんぐりから，千里の道
も一歩から」。

ふつうの語順では，Great oaks grow from little acorns.
となる。

little acorns grow.
（今は小さな会社にすぎないけれど，樫の大木も初めは小さな
どんぐりだからね）

¶The idea is simple. However, remember that great oaks
from little acorns grow.
（そのアイデアは単純なものだ。だけど，ほら，千里の道も
一歩から，だよ）

（できることはどんな形でもきみを助けるつもりだけど，
きみが中心になって動いてほしいんだよ）

私たちは環境を犠牲にすることなしに経済成長を成し遂げる
