ビジ英の5回目はビニェットがないので、メルマガも
お休みしようかと思いましたが、29ページの英作文
でもやってみましょう。

Writingを見ればその人の英語力がよくわかるとも
言われていますが、私のwriting力を堂々公開します。

Lesson 1の全体を音読しました。通して読むと長いですねー。
シャドウイングの途中では正直、寝ました。

練習問題

皆さんも自分で英作文をやってみましょう。
辞書は見ないでやってみましょう。
ただしテキストは可とします。
あとスペルチェックも可としましょう。

（１）プロジェクトリーダーのポールは、細かいことに
のめり込んで抜け出せなくなっている。小さな仕事は
他の人にまかせるべきだ。(be bogged down)

＜本多試訳＞
Paul, who is a project leader, is bogged down in
tiny things. He should let others do small jobs.

＜言い訳＞
「まかせる」がわからず、letでごまかしました。

＜正解＞
Paul, the project leader, is bogged down in details.
He should delegate small tasks to others.

＜考察＞
project leaderは、ここではaではなくてtheですね。
細かいことが　in details　ね。

任せるはdelegateですか。
他には、「leave 何々 to 誰それ」でもいいみたい。
He should leave small tasks to others.

（２）かなりの数の銀行が不良債権の償却を迫られている。
（under pressure）

＜本多試訳＞
Many banks are under pressure for depreciating
dead loans.

＜言い訳＞
「不良債権の償却」が自信なし。
「かなりの数」もmanyでごまかしました。

＜正解＞
Quite a few banks are under pressure to write off
bad loans.

＜考察＞
「かなりの数」はquite a fewですか。
よく見る表現ですが、身についていませんでした。

不良債権はbad loans。
dead loanは「貸し倒れ」でした。
depreciationは「減価償却」で覚えていたので
密かに自信があったのですが、write offですか。

そもそも「不良債権の償却」の意味がわかりません。

write off
If someone writes off a debt or an amount of money
that has been spent on a project, they accept that
they are never going to get the money back.

使ったお金を取り戻すことをしないと言うことのようですが、
よくわかりません。

（３）新しく売り出す生鮮トロピカルフルーツの広告
キャンペーンを企画する件に対して、本社の承認が得られた。
（go-ahead）

＜本多試訳＞
We got go-ahead from headquarters about planning
campaign of ads for newly launching fresh tropical fruits.

＜言い訳＞
「新しく売り出す」にlaunchingを使ったのがビジ英の成果。

＜正解＞
We've got the go-ahead from the home office to design
an ad campaign for the new line of fresh tropical fruit.

＜考察＞
承認が得られた、は現在完了と。
なるほどWe gotでは過去の事になってしまいます。

the go-aheadのtheを落としたのは凡ミス。

「本社」ですが、headquartersでもいいと思いますが。
headquarters
The headquarters of an organization are its main offices.

後半はボロボロでした。
