Rob Milford, CBS Radio, with the 8th Marine Tank battalion, on the air live with a Rochester, NY talk-show host (8th Tank is based near here, a lot of local relates).
A Mercedes speeding toward a checkpoint refused to stop, they opened up on
it with .50 caliber machine guns. Killed the commanding general of the the
Nida division of the Republican Guard. Found in the car--personal papers,
orders, a phone book listing many important numbers including Baath party
officials, Iraqi defense, Saddam's palaces, and supposedly a private number
for Saddam. Intelligence has the documents.
Wonder if they'll try to call Saddam on the phone? I think he's been dead for two weeks, personally!
