Fantastic post.

I have been working the night shift for fifteen years and developed bone pain, hypertension, depression, alcoholism, nicotine addiction, muscle weakness, BPH Benign prostatic hyperplasia, weight gain BMI 29. All had become status quo.

I recently developed an addiciton to Tuna (it made me feel better). Finally I put 2 and 2 together when researching the internet and when stumbling upon vitaminDCouncil.com. I started out small, 400 I.U. then graduated to 1200, and now take 4k /day since June 2007.

All maladys have gone, though I still enjoy a few glasses of wine. Seriously though, proper vitamin D nutrition has changed my life. Those vitamin D researchers have changed my life for the better not just physically, but mentally. The difference in the quality of my life is beyond measure, and almost ineffable in description. At the age of 39, I am well aware of the placebo affect and the relation of the beliefs of the mind to the physical well being of the body. I unhesitatingly would prescribe a minimum of 2k IU/d to anyone not getting adequate sunshine.

I however am beginning to become paranoid in that everytime I read an article about D3 it is followed by insufficient dosage recommendations. I have taken as much as 10k on days when I weight train with no ill effects, and a great decrease in recovery time. Also, at the 10k level, I have to force myself to stop after three hours! Before, I would be exhausted after 20 mins. if I even manifested the gumption to get off the couch.

N.B. I also take 100 mg DHEA, 100 mg 5-HTP, 6 mg Melatonin, 81 mg aspirin (chewable), tomatos, garlic, redwine, greentea, weighttraining and recently have begun alternate day fasts (18 hrs.) Hows that for exhaustive bordering on rant?
