[Image]Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has hailed the Kenya Girl Guides Association for instilling character in its members.Magoha said the members demonstrate the influence in their public and private lives.In a speech read by Curriculum Implementations PS Fatuma Chege on behalf of Magoha, the CS thanked the Kenya Girl Guides Association for supplementing learning.“The Ministry of Education has supported girls to join the movement as a key part of the co-curricular programme in schools,” Magoha said.He lauded the Girl Guide movement for playing a critical role in complementing the role of parents and teachers in shaping the lives of children in a positive manner.This was during the association’s Centenary Celebrations at Citam Karen in Nairobi last Friday.The occasion was officiated by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, and graced by Public Service CS Margaret Kobia and ICT ministry CAS Nadia Ahmed.Magoha thanked the Kenya Girl Guides Association for helping in developing well-rounded children through its programmesHe said academic success is greatly complemented by the values that the association instils in its school-going members. Magoha noted that the Girl Guiding exposes its members to experiences such as camping, training and exchange programmes that enable them to build a global worldview.“CBC aims at inculcating in children the need to learn to treat themselves and others with dignity, to demonstrate integrity and develop their capacity for true leadership which is based on serving others,” he said.Magoha said parents need to effectively play their role of parenting and not leave everything to teachers.
