[Image]Labour CS Florence Bore has admitted to being at the centre of controversy in the purchase of a house in Karen and sought to put speculation to rest amid sensational media reports on the matter. In a statement on Sunday, the CS said she entered into a contractual agreement with a company associated with Gatanga Member of Parliament, Edward Muriu to buy the house at a negotiated and agreed purchase price."Resultantly, I signed my part of the agreement for sale and transmitted the agreement through my lawyers to the vendor's lawyers for signing on their part," Bore said. The CS said Muriu Mungai & Company (MMC Asafo) acting for the vendor, acknowledged receipt of the signed agreement for sale by stamping on the forwarding letter by her lawyers.Bore said she then sought a 10 per cent deposit from her Sacco and paid the amount to the vendor's lawyers' account via Real-time Gross Settlement (RTGS) as provided for in the clause of purchase."It was a term in the agreement for sale that the completion period of the transaction was 90 days from the date of signing the agreement. We agreed that I take occupation of the house while I retreat to seek a mortgage facility for the balance which I legitimately expected to obtain within the agreed transaction period of 90 days," the CS said. However, Bore alleged that in less than 30 days from the day the agreement was signed, the Gatanga MP took advantage of her absence from the country to try and evict her children from the house. She said it was this new development that necessitated the presence of police at the palatial home on Friday in what she claimed was the MP's attempt to "dissociate from the agreement ostensibly because they have found a better deal"."For a colleague in leadership to take advantage of my absence from the country to run a hate campaign instead of waiting to engage me upon return is not only queer but baffling," Bore said.In what she termed as dramatised and sensational allegations, Bore disputed the owner's account that she entered into the multimillion house without making any commitment to purchase In an interview with Citizen TV Friday night, Maria Mureu the CS moved into the house while she was away on a foreign trip with her husband two weeks ago.She claimed the CS visited them and gave a Sh90 million offer for the property but she was informed Sh120 million was the final price."There is no agreement signed whatsoever, there's no transaction that has taken place. This house still belongs to me and my husband," Mureu said.Bore discounted this in her statement."The transaction was a private engagement between a willing seller and a willing buyer, both parties represented by lawyers in total conformity with the law. The media pitch was therefore unwarranted and ancillary to the transaction," the CS said. BY THE STAR
