[Image]BBC reporter Ciru Muriuki has opened up on how she was forced to take charge of her health last year. This was after she started getting continued episodes of fatigue. This made her seek the help of a medic.Through her socials, Ciru says she had started feeling sluggish and constantly fatigued before she decided to seek out other options."Last year, I just felt like I had let things get out of hand when it came to my health. I had just had thyroid surgery, and so I had to take a long, hard look at how I was living. The verdict was not good. I was eating really badly, and not exercising, and as a result, my mood was all over the place, and I felt really sluggish. I wasn’t sleeping well, found it really hard to get up in the morning."Ciru says she chose to stick with bowel irrigation."Basically, a mess! So to kickstart my new health journey, I decided to look into bowel irrigation. @nairobibariatric was really helpful afterward. I felt like a brand new person!"Bowel irrigation is a medical process involving the rapid administration of large volumes of an osmotically balanced macrogol solution (GoLYTELY, CoLyte). It can be consumed either orally or via a nasogastric tube, to flush out the entire gastrointestinal tract. The water stimulates the bowel and flushes out the stool. The process takes about 30–45 minutes. After irrigating, the lower part of the bowel is empty.Bowel irrigation should be performed regularly (usually daily or every other day) to achieve full continence and prevent constipation.
