It really is a golden period for wargaming with so many great figs out there, so don't be too hard on yourself.
Its what keeps this hobby going all us weak willed wargamers who buy mountains of lead which never see or come close to crossing swords on the tabletop.
It is frustrating to have multiple un-finished armies (I should know). I console myself by saying I am more of a collector/painter, but as soon as I have a new army finished I'll call myself a gamer again.
That is a GREAT Viking Photo -and I Love the backdrop too. Just getting into Dark Ages gaming with Vikings and Saxons and loving it!

I suffer from mission creep, more than most collectors. I have decided that I had better focus, at least within broad limits. For ancients, I'm therefore going to concentrate on:-
The time: Roughly 400BC to 400AD; Peloponnesian war to the fall of Rome
The place: The Mediterranean basin, France and Britain (and later Germany/Dacia)
The next army: Pyrrhics (and finishing off various part-painted units from the EIR and Polybian eras).
Once Zama is out of the way I'll therefore flog off some non-core bits, such as my Viking army, which is little used for lack of an opposing army. Below is an old pic of some of the Vikings, next to their fjord:

I do also have a small Assyrian army, which I'll keep because I think it'll look great once completed, and because I recently bought some great Biblical-era terrain.

Thanks chaps!
Paul, I opened a can of Sandtex Chocolate Brown this AM; I have been consulting "Trusting History"...
Andrew, I have sooo many unfinished armies. At least, when they are within broadly similar periods/geographical areas, they get outings as allies.
