You'll have to do a tutorial you know (or did you do one a while back? :-S). When I use AP I always find it definitely looks AP. I assume you brush on the dip, then do some highlighting after?
I wonder if some of those guys fought at Kalefeld/Harzhorn (AD 236). There have been finds of Eastern-style arrowheads.

These are the chums of Tuesday's slingers; I painted 4 to match an eBay purchase (from Solway Arts and Crafts IIRC), and based. They were pretty quick to paint, using Army Painter. Mine are the ones with blonde hair.

I usually double-depth base my light troops, but did these in single depth so that they can support a (projected future) unit of legionaries.

Hi Matt, these were painted base coat, highlight, very thin coat AP strong tone, didn't need a final highlight. Really very quick...
My next lot will be Nappy French; will see how it works on them!

They look nice and I think ap gets a bad rap sometimes as very nice results can be achieved if used in a careful way...like yours.;-)

I thought if I do the horse and musket stuff in a new blog, it'll appeal to people who don't like ancients. And vice versa.
