Nice work Simon, we re-enacted Raphia on the tabletop a couple of years back & it was a cracking game, definitely worth doing on a large scale. Be interesting to see what you come up with for the Seleucid Arab irregulars, could I recommend Copplestone Somalis with beards 'green stuffed' on.
Best of luck HGA.

All right, bring on the Ptolemies, Simon ! Very good start there.

LRT Editions' upcoming book about the Ptolemaic armies may be of interest to you.

En francaise naturally, but it looks like mostly color plates anyway. I'm hoping he offers a .pdf version, it's a lot cheaper.

Steve

Very nice.

What paint do you use for the pike shafts? I like it.

Hi Steve, I'll keep an eye out for that! pdf would be better, as you say.

Neil, I use GW desert yellow, but with aother colour mixed in; a brown in this case. I want the pies to be similar in colour (and length) but not identical.

Excellent choice of battle, Simon. As always, done with style in the grand manner. Will look forward to reading more about it when the youngsters give me some time to do so!

Cheers,

Perhaps I should take my Romans on a little trip to Alexandria soon to see if these pikemen fight as well as they look!

Yes that would be fun, Simon. I shoudl be able to get an army together by Xmas.

Are you in town in the next couple of weeks? You could come around for a game and stay over if useful. Alternatively, we could book in a game in January.

Cheers, Simon
