Very nice! I like those hooded guys - they look like the ones from that Trojan War fresco. I used to have some A&A Macedonians. They looked good, but I think these Romans are really nice. The armor really matches the poses & style. Regards, Dean
Nice looking unit. The only negative comment I'd make is that by this date, shields all seem to have had a raw-hide edging, rather than the earlier metal one.
You're right about the A&A stuff - some of it looks a bit ropey on the website, but great in the hand and even better once panted.
Hi Phil, didn't know about the rawhide, will have to do save that for the next unit!
Do you have any suggestions for a shield design for II Parthica? I have a nicely painted caged-eagle standard bearer and I need a legion to go with him.
They are just fantastic - both individually but most especially as a based unit.
Makes me want to move to ancients once I've finished my current Dark Ages bug!

My first Middle Imperial Roman unit (pictures clickable; worth it for the LBMS shields...). I bought these painted on fleaBay, painted one more mini to match, replaced the shields and rebased. Whoever originally painted them was very talented. I aspire to a small army... some II Parthians, Lanciarii and a unit with the Dura Europos shield.
My impressions of the A&A miniatures are very favourable. I've ordered (and received) some more. Minis that look somewhat dubious on their Website, are actually very nice in the hand... Most or all of the Romans were sculpted by Aventine Adam, I believe.

Now I can't decide whether to paint another pretty unit of MIRs, or some French Napoleonic artillery, by way of a change. Tough call...

Thanks chaps!
Hi Dean, I find some of their ranges a bit "pudgy", but Adam nailed the MIRs!
I'm just about to fire off another order...

Probably my favourite range of Romans. Your bases are utterly beautiful!

Great stuff as ever. Very good painting there.
I'm more MRR myself but got some EIR in 10mm recently and so may get to MIR eventually!
