They are piggybacking off of Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile's 5G networks, in the same way they use these networks for 4G LTE coverage.Nationwide 5G coverage is still a few years away but in certain major city locations, like New York City, there is some 5G network coverage available. And all of the major networks are working to expand coverage as fast as possible. 5G speeds are also slowly increasing, with most of the major networks now recording speeds about double or triple that of 4G LTE speeds. But even if you're phone says '5G' doesn't necessarily mean you're getting faster speeds. Do a quick speed test in areas like your house or work to determine if 4G LTE might still be faster.
