I wish that Tracfone would allow you to add on just minutes. You can add data and texts as needed, but if you run out of minutes, you have to buy the whole bunch.

I'd like to see more phones that do not use CDMA (Verizon) available from Tracfone or at least give us the flexibility to use CDMA or GSM like the BYOP program. For example, the G6 was a great value on HSN this season with 1200 minutes/texts/data for $200. But I get very poor Verizon service in my area of use.

Does anyone know how many characters Tracfone considers as one text? I've noticed that a 4-5 sentence message deducts about 12 texts from my balance. Thanks.
On my LG L33L Android 5.0.1 there is a little counter in the corner of the text box and it says 160/1. When I get to 0/1 the next character I type it then says 145/2.

I feel like I got screwed on the BYOP. I was given an iPhone from someone that had upgraded. Nothing in the Tracfone publicity or in the process said anything about the GSM vs. CDSM, even when I told them where I would be using it. I can't understand why it will send and receive texts and data, but it won't make dial out or ring. Would an AT&T phone pick up the Verizon tower signal? If not why am I getting 4 out of 5 bars? If it's an AT&T signal, why will it do everything but act as a phone? I've spent hours with customer service on this, and everyone keeps giving me different answers, but nothing has worked.
Anyone else getting messages from tracfone about needing to upgrade phone due to changes in service at the end of the year? What changes they do not say. Anybody?
I see now that for $5.00 as a add on will give you 500 mins only,does not extend your service date but gives u a bucket of mins for a good price.

I'm hoping to see more options for android phones with smaller screens (4.5" and/or less)with 2GB RAM. When the iphone SE came out, there was a wait time of 8 weeks! Smaller screens are still in demand for those that do not want to supersize their phones.

Tracfone is raising prices by eliminating the 365day service renewal option for its BYOP customers. This approximately doubles the cost of service, those more mobile data, less talk/text focused consumers who provide their own phone.
a lot of tracfone owners are going to be out of service when Verizone drops CDMA service - be prepared, as your CDMA tracfone will not work after Dec 2019
I bought more minutes on my Tracfone as in the past but when I loaded on my phone I didn't get the usual double minutes. I am told something about Verison no longer being a carrier so TracFone won't honor their past agreement. Any information on this???
what recourse do I have when TracFone only gave me 1.17 gigs of data when I bought a plan that had 3 gigs. A rude supervisor became mad because she could not explain why said she would give me the data. However I only received 2.6 gigs. Still lacking almost 1/2 gig. It all started when your system rejected my BYO apple 5s.I was told by your employee it was compatible with your service before I bought the air time. I was also told that when I called in with a new phone that the 1200 min talk, 1200 text, 3 gigs data, and 1 yr. serv. would be transferred. Sincerely Fred Kellerman. New Phones, Predictions, and Changes for Tracfone in 2019!

Each year brings changes, new phones, and possibilities. And with 2019 here, we will be looking forward at what the new year might hold as far as changes to Tracfone in the future, and trends they may follow.
We will also share some insights on the previous year, 2018, and review some of the highlights.

Let's begin with a review of some of the highlights from 2018 including changes and new phones.
Looking Back on 2018
One of the major highlights we encountered was a flourish of new phones released late in 2018 which included the first budget phone with 32 GB storage.
We saw Tracfone release the latest version of devices from both LG and Samsung product lines which included phones like the LG Rebel 4 and Samsung Galaxy J7 Crown. Tracfone also released some high-end devices like the iPhone 7 Plus.
But what was really exciting to see was the release of the Moto G6. It is a budget friendly phone that still packs a lot of features including 32 GB internal storage at a price of around $200.
One thing we didn't see Tracfone change was their move in 2017 to end Triple Minutes for Life. However, they did add a triple minute bonus to new phone activations so many users who bought new devices with airtime bundles reported getting their balance tripled.
Overall, Tracfone mostly maintained their course in 2018 with perhaps an increase in speed of releasing new phones.

Based on our own data, these are the most popular phones from Tracfone in 2018. This is somewhat unofficial, but still interesting to share. Samsung Galaxy J7 CrownLG Rebel 4LG Premier ProMoto G6
The J7 Crown follows in the footsteps of the previous version, the Samsung Galaxy J7 Sky Pro, which was the most popular phone from 2017.

What to Expect from Tracfone in 2019
New Phones from Tracfone
Below are several phones Tracfone is likely to release in 2019 and we will add more information as it becomes available.
New smartphones coming in 2019 include:

iPhone XR/XMAX/XS/X
Moto G7
Various ZTE/LG/Samsung budget options
Tracfone has consistently increased the lineup for Apple devices and we expect to see some of the latest iPhones coming to Tracfone in the near future. However, these phones do come with a hefty price tag.
What to Expect from Tracfone BYOP
The BYOP program continues as a great option for consumers who prefer the flexibility of choosing their own phone to use with Tracfone and we don't expect any significant changes in 2019. Tracfone will likely continue as they have in 2018 to streamline the process and hopefully continue to iron out any issues.
What to Expect from Airtime
Tracfone has fully implemented it's new smartphone only airtime cards which are generally a great deal for smartphone users. Customers can still buy the regular airtime cards, and we expect Tracfone to continue to make this possible while also focusing on promoting their smartphone only cards.
What to Expect from Tracfone Promo Codes
Initially when Tracfone started offering the new smartphone only cards it seemed that they might try to phase out promotional codes. But we fully expect Tracfone to continue to offer promotional codes for both regular airtime cards and smartphone only cards as they are widely popular with customers.
What we Want in 2019
Improve customer service - Tracfone has long be known for their poor customer service and with the addition of several brick and mortar stores, we had hoped they were making it a more significant focus. However, it doesn't appear that much as changed and many users still report running into difficulties and problems.
We hope that Tracfone will work at creating a more customer-centric approach to inspire confidence going forward. Long wait times on hold and poor training of customer service reps are two of the more noticeable problems.
More Phones like the Moto G6
We want to see more phones from Tracfone that offer 32 GB storage and other attractive features at under $200. While that is a demanding goal, we hope to see the next lineup of budget phones form LG and Samsung include the extra storage space many users need at an affordable price.
The unlocked version of the LG Stylo 4, for example, features 32 GB storage plus a number of other great features with a $200 price while the Tracfone version only has 16 GB storage at a similar price. Let's hope Tracfone can step up and provide consumers with more competitive options.
