Regarding your question we sent a message to our mutual friend. We suggest caution, but have questions concerning the veracity of the information.

Now, the business at hand.

In less than 24 hours, anti-racists will be confronting the Aryan Guard as they march for the second year on the United Nations' International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, which the Aryan Guard and other's before them have tried to re-brand as "White Pride" Day. We know that "White Pride" is a euphemism for "White Power", "White Supremacy" and racial intolerance. They will claim that they are merely "proud" to be White. No one is fooled.


In both the Calgary and the Edmonton Sun newspapers, stories ran on the Aryan Guard's planned march. In both, John Marleau (simply referred to as John in both articles) claims the following:

"It's not a hate march, it's strictly about being proud," said John, comparing the White Pride March to a cultural celebration by people of Native or African descent. 
"We're not expecting any conflict and we're not going to pick a fight."  "It has nothing to do with white supremacy," he said. "This is strictly a march to show pride for our European heritage. We have no desire to put anybody down."

This is patently false as proven by John's own words (click here to see what John has said about ethnic minorities), however in this case even the mainstream media has not been fooled.

Marleau claims that there will be as many as 100 members and supporters of the Aryan Guard out on Saturday. We doubt the number will be that high, but anything is possible. What we do know is that they will be dwarfed by those who come out to oppose them.

We urge the citizens of Calgary to get out and show the rest of Canada that your city will not allow groups like the Aryan Guard to exist without opposition and that their views are held in univeral contempt.
