First off, I send you hugs and my deepest condolences.
My DH and I have had to do this 7 times in the last 11 years with our felines, so I know exactly where you're both at right now and it's not a happy place and I'm so sorry you have to be there!
I think saying goodbye to a four-legged family member is in many ways just as hard as saying goodbye to a two-legged one...especially when they are old and have to go before you.
Take this as you will, but I do mean this is the best of ways. I firmly believe that if we try to be good in life that when we die we go to a heaven of our fondest dreams, memories and desires. I believe Kato will be in your heaven when you get there.
Oh, Pam! I'm so sorry to hear this. It seems like there's a rash of pet-family losses these days and I'm so sad that your family is included in that. I'll be thinking about you guys.
I am so sorry for your loss... only time will heal the hurt. Try not to be sad for losing him, but be happy for having had him as a wonderful pet & companion for so long. Memories keep loved ones alive. My thoughts are with you.

It has been forever since I have posted and so much has been going on but I'm not going to go into that right now. It's just too much. Today is a very sad day in the Pedersen house. Our wonderful old Man, Kato passed away today. As many of you know, we have three amazing Jack Russells. Kato was the old man of the bunch. He had congestive heart failure and was getting worse. This morning he was not moving around like his normal self. We took him to the vet and said goodbye. I miss my little old man. Our house just isn't the same without the tapping of his feet walking on the floors. He was a cranky old man who constantly battled wits with Mark but he was our cranky old man.
I don't really know what to say. I am too sad. Maybe I can later, but today I just want to sit with my family and think about my little old man.

Oh, I'm so sorry Pam...I know it's hard to say goodbye to a loved pet..they definitely become members of the family. :(
