Well said. I loved WiiMusic, for pretty much the same reasons you just described. When I read reviews saying things like "Most of the music is public domain, and you even have to score your performance yourself!", all I can do is shake my head, because they obviously just don't get it. But it's good to see that I'm not the only one who saw music in a whole new way after playing with this delightful game.

I've never played Wii Music, but my impression is that it's the Wii's answer to Electroplankton for the DS in its creativity, but it's more structured and refined. I wouldn't mind giving it a try one day.

This is definitely what I thought in my own Wii Music review (except that I pre-ordered Wii Music as soon as i could after E3 - i knew i'd be hooked); very nicely put!

It does take skill and patience to play through each song perfectly, just like you wanted to, but not too perfectly since you still want it to have soul. I replay parts in Wii Music way more than I ever had to replay a level in Mega Man 9 - this game takes serious skill.

I've gotten the most out of sharing and internet-collaboration, though. When I had to play melody to somebody else's recorded harmony, I realized how hard it is to accompany somebody! this is probably teh closest i'll ever come to being in an actual band, and I'm impressed at how much I actually get out of it.

if you're up for some sharing, here's my friend code! hit me up:

I appreciate the positive replies, I hope some more people will give it an honest go. It occured to me that I'm at 30 hours in the game and I still feel I'm just scratching the surface...and reviewers mentioned they reviewed Zelda without completing it (~40 hours). That makes me believe most reviewers didn't spend much time with WiiMusic before posting their thoughts, which is unfortunate :(.

ROb, would love to collaborate:

Someone should make a Facebook group for Wii Music lovers to collaborate and maybe set some goals for a group to play at, like making a salsa flavored version of Jingle Bell Rock. It seems contests like the ones done on the Check Mii Out Channel would be a lot of fun with a group in WiiMusic.

You can find a list of Reflexive's games at http://www.reflexive-inc.com/games.shtml. It's a list 18 strong...with another game due this week and a couple more over the next couple of months.

I'm currently working on several projects myself, all due out by late summer...I hope :).
