great analysis from someone who is not that involved in China. having lived here for a long time, I'm cognizant of the many improvements yet to make but also continuously in awe of the changes that have occurred in the last 13 years. In infrastructure etc yes, but more importantly in the confidence and globalisation with chinese characteristics of the people.

i, too, have just returned from four weeks in China's costal areas, specifically Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Macau and Xiamen.

Stability is paramount for her to move forward. There are Western-inspired forces to split her, e.g. Nobel Peace Prize for a 'human rights' activist, NPP for Dalai Lama who IS a separatist. And then there is the Uyghur woman in Washington, DC who actively supports Xinjiang Muslims under the phony 'East Turkestan' banner.

Western-style democracy will not work in China, at least for another 100 years, definitel not in my lifetime. History is proof of that; 200 years of foreign humiliation is enough. "Fooled me once, shame on you; fooled me twice, shame on me"
