Thanks for your thoughts on CR, some interesting questions raised. Some social scientists that spring to mind applying CR in a modern way are David Pilgrim and his work in mental health and Karl Hoyer (now deceased) in how science represents climate change. I have applied the theory to collect data for my own PhD research on youth mental health and help-seeking and I have found it to be an extremely useful theoretical basis for my research, particularly in avoiding falling into a pragmatist approach to justify my mixed methodology. But there are holes, i'm not quite sure what they are just yet. I suppose this may be what you are getting at here too....
