I have done research on this. There are about 2000 "progressive" organizations, based mostly in DC or NYC but there are very few organizers around the country. The Nazis in the 30s had organizers in every town and urban neighborhood, that probably was the secret of their success. The situation today is different, of course; but the point is that we don't need 2000 organizations and very few organizers; we need one very good organization and lots of people doing something to incite people. I am retired and spend my time creating educational websites. http://kr-improvements.blogspot.com/

What would also help is showing people what is happening in their community by linking wealth/political power to social & economic policies. I map various subjects concerning inequality in Memphis, TN. Memphis is one of the poorest and most violent cities in America. It is unique in the fact that it is the only majority African-American metropolitan area with over 1 million people in America. Things are not good on whole for black people in Memphis. I have maps ranging from dog attacks, to foreclosures, to property value, to voting turnout, to educational attainment, political donations, to police bookings. Please take a look.
