I feel as though the 'every history is unique' mantra is somewhat of a cop out. Sure every history is unique....just like every other history. It's tends to played as card to avoid coming to any conclusion or providing any sort of general analysis beyond the one presented in a particular paper.

There is a famous sayign that I feel is applicable here - history repeats its self. Nothing reallly is a new concept in history - is usually the same concepts: political domination/control, genocide, revolution, war etc. They all are the same concepts just apllied uniquely.
