I'm surprised that any male AA youth make it through school. If they try to do well, they get accused of being white, or worse. Ask any parent--or kid-going to an urban school. I think the only AA dis that make it go to suburban schools where they are a distinct minority and less vulnerable to this peer-pressure. Why cite all these studies - talk to a few parents. And, of course, with no successful educational background, these kids are doomed. It's a very sad situation that seems to be getting worse, if anything.

A brave man to tackle an impossible topic.

Racism is one of those things you can never see directly, it only appears as a shadow or reflection or a symptom. I am skeptical that racism has much to do with the political spectrum - I am more inclined to see the evidence as indicating a strong correlation to, race...

But either way, I do wonder if in this case, the right approach to find a cure for the disease is to treat the symptom. We may not agree or understand what the disease is, what the cause of the problem is, but can anyone really assert that persistently having and under-educated population isn't a social calamity of epic scale? Why not simply improve educational outcomes for our citizenry? whatever the reason for the current disparity, better education would be a positive outcome...
