As a policy researcher in a think tank and a policymaker in a local government, I felt that sociological theories can help me to understand possibilities of conjunctures (e.g., the free-rider problem). It seems that knowledge builds a laboratory in my mind for controlling and predicting. However, I do not completely depend on a specific discipline or scholars' perspectives, because practices in reality are too complex. It means that knowledge does not help me to predict the right thing in the future. Instead, it reminds me that which places I could make a mistake. The prediction is for me, instead of for reality.
