Sounds like he was ahead in his thinking...but, I wonder---would anyone pay much attention to his notions (or notions like them), were he alive today? I think not. Consider the phenomenon of postmodernism and its attendant relativism. Many people do not know about these influences, much less care. The fisherman knows what matters to him and his family...he does not care to work harder, or more, than he need work. His future is day-by-day, not ten years away. This is out-of-sync with modernity. But, in his own context, the fisherman is content.
