So then, China would be better off a colonized exploited desperately poor country rather than having experienced 9.7% yearly GDP and 8.7% yearly per capita GDP growth these last 39 and 38 years respectively. Am I correct in my reading of this essay?

The Western disdain for what the Chinese have accomplished is beyond my understanding. Of course, there are development problems but the problems need to be appreciated in context what has been accomplished in all and the efforts to correct problems which characterizes the success of development in China.

I am really discouraged at what I take is simply disdain for the Chinese.

Sorry if I annoyed the writer with my comment, but I find this essay sadly slanted again China as Western writings on China tyopically are and thought that needed to be said.

I am grateful that you posted my complaint. I love this blog, but I love China and thought an immediate defense necessary.
