Good blog! Anyway, I completely understand why you (and us) go to these things when most kids are in school. Just less chaotic and stressful. If we're spoiled, I don't see that as a problem :-) BTW: Looks like it was a fun/cool museum. Thank you sharing it.

Oh I completely agree. We try and avoid those places during the summer. The one place that my kids prefer during the school year is the library. They can never get on the computers during the summer.

So your link on the Secular Homeschoolers loop (I'm the mom who posted the link for 46 alternatives to a book report, just so you can have a reference to who I am ;)

I *so* agree with you! We absolutely hate going anywhere during the summer. This will be our 7th year of homeschooling, and every year on the first day of public school we celebrate "Not Back to School Day." We go out for breakfast, hit the bookstore, take in a movie and whatever else we want to do that day. Typically there's only a handful of people wherever we go and we *love* it!

We've noticed this same thing many times. Usually when we go to the OKC Zoo for the Science Fest. Its free to school age kids. But, theres tons of public schools who attend. It can be a bit overwhelming. This last April we noticed how our boys we're being pushed out the way a lot and how the public school kids we're acting. My youngest,8, was getting upset because he would standing in line for an exibit and get pushed out the way. He didn't understand why he was being well behaved and following the rules but the other kids we'rent. My husband and I kept making comments that if we had left out boys in school they could have been acting that way. I know how that sounds, but thats how those kids we're acting.

Hi - Thanks for wanting to share your ideas & comments! I love hearing what others have to say, but just so that everyone is aware, I have the right and option to decide to post a comment or not. Foul language, inappropriate comments, lashing out at the world, or posting irrelevant ad links are a few reasons why posts may be rejected. My daughter & her friends like to frequently see what is being posted so therefore I would like to keep it clean.
I also have a tendency to reject "Anonymous" posts as I feel the content is not verifiable, therefore is often either irrelevant or not viable.
If your comment has been accepted - it will generally appear in less than 24 hours! Thanks Gina
